Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute long-term financial strategies aligned with corporate and market goals.
Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and KPI development.
Provide analysis and insights to support executive decision-making.
Manage capital planning, debt financing, and cash-flow management.
Accounting & Compliance
Oversee all accounting operations, including AR/AP, general ledger, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry-specific reporting requirements.
Manage external audits, banking relationships, tax preparation and investor reporting.
Warehouse, Inventory & Supply Chain Finance

Qualifications

Proven success managing cost accounting, supply-chain finance, and procurement.

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead the accounting and internal financial operations of our growing solar energy business. Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Control
Monitor daily cash positions and optimize working capital by managing the timing of inventory purchases and customer billings.
Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate GAAP-compliant financial statements.
Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, including AR/AP, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
Establish and enforce a rigorous system of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data accuracy.
Manage the annual audit process and serve as the primary point of contact for external tax and audit partners.
Credit Policy & Accounts Receivable Management
Establish and maintain the company’s credit policy, determining credit limits and payment terms for new and existing B2B customers and vendors.
Review credit applications, analyze customer financial statements, and utilize third-party credit reports to mitigate bad debt risk.
Oversee the AR team to ensure timely collections; develop escalating procedures for past-due accounts and manage relationships with third-party collections or legal counsel if necessary.
Ensure the company’s lien rights are protected on large-scale solar projects, including the management of preliminary notices and lien waivers.
Inventory & Warehouse Finance
Lead the financial oversight of warehouse operations, including regular cycle counts, physical inventory reconciliations, and shrinkage analysis.
Maintain and update costing models for solar components (panels, inverters, racking) and manage landed cost calculations (freight, duties, etc.).
Partner with procurement to monitor vendor pricing trends and ensure accurate valuation of on-hand stock.
Systems & Process Improvement
Act as the functional lead for the accounting modules of our ERP and Warehouse Management Systems.
Identify and implement workflows to streamline the handoff between Sales, Warehouse, and Finance.
Develop and maintain dashboards for real-time visibility into inventory levels, department spend, and project margins.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or CMA certification is strongly preferred.
Experience: 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or Accounting Manager role within the renewable energy, wholesale, manufacturing, or distribution sectors.
Inventory Expertise: Proven experience managing complex inventory accounting and warehouse-related financial controls.
Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, Power Query) and deep experience with ERP/WMS systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, or Microsoft Business Central).
Location: Must be based in the U.S. Preferable that you are located in Columbus, Ohio office and can work a hybrid schedule from our office but we will consider people outside of Ohio.
